Accessibility fixes for Shopify stores
Shopify stores every customer can buy from.
We fix the accessibility problems in your theme code, so keyboard and screen-reader users can shop too.
Since 28 June 2025, the European Accessibility Act (EAA) has applied to online shops that sell to consumers in the EU.

Next: fix sprint on a copy of your theme
Why it matters
-
Some customers can’t buy
Shoppers who use a keyboard, a screen reader or zoom get stuck in menus, product options or the cart. They leave without buying.
-
Complaints and regulator checks
Customers can complain, and national regulators can check online shops against the EAA. Fixing issues now is easier than fixing them under a deadline.

-
Widgets don’t fix the theme
Accessibility overlays add a toolbar on top of your store. The problems are in your theme code, so they stay. We fix the code itself.
What we fix
These are the most common accessibility problems in Shopify themes. We fix them in your theme code.
-
Colour contrast
Text that is too light to read, such as grey prices, small print or text on photos.
WCAG 1.4.3
-
Keyboard access
Menus, product options and the add-to-cart button that only work with a mouse.
WCAG 2.1.1
-
Missing labels
Form fields, search boxes and icon buttons that a screen reader can’t name.
WCAG 4.1.2
-
Images without alt text
Product and banner images with no description, or one that just repeats the file name.
WCAG 1.1.1
-
Cart drawers and pop-ups
Drawers and pop-ups that trap the keyboard, can’t be closed, or open without telling screen-reader users.
WCAG 2.1.2
-
Focus visibility
No visible outline showing where you are on the page when you use the keyboard.
WCAG 2.4.7

Who does the work
Sabbir Hossain
Founder of AisleFix. Does the audits and fixes personally.
Full-stack developer with 7+ years of experience. Builds and runs Laravel SaaS products and their production servers.
When a store only works with a mouse, some customers can’t buy at all. Most of those barriers are small fixes in the theme code. I find them, fix them, and show you exactly what changed.

If we find issues in the checkout or in apps, we list them for you, so you can raise them with Shopify or the app developer.
Questions
Does the EAA apply to us?
Probably, if you sell to consumers in the EU. Only micro-enterprises are exempt: businesses with fewer than 10 staff and an annual turnover or balance sheet total of no more than €2 million. With 10 or more staff, the exemption does not apply. If you are unsure, ask a legal adviser.
Isn’t an accessibility widget enough?
No. A widget adds a toolbar on top of your store, but the problems in your theme code stay. Many screen-reader users already have their own tools, and find widgets get in the way. Fixing the code is what makes the store work.
Do you need access to our store?
Only to your themes. You add us as a collaborator in Shopify and give us the Themes permission only. We can’t see your orders, customers or payments, and you can remove our access at any time.
Will this change our design?
Mostly not. Most fixes are invisible: labels, keyboard behaviour, focus order. Some colours may need to be a little darker to be readable, and keyboard users will see an outline around the element they are on. We show you every visual change before you publish.
What happens to our live store during the work?
Nothing. We work on a copy of your theme. Your live store stays exactly as it is until you publish the new version.
How do you test?
We combine automated tools with manual testing. We use your store with only a keyboard, with a screen reader (VoiceOver and NVDA), and zoomed in to 200%. We test against WCAG 2.1 level AA.
How long does it take?
The free scan report arrives within 2 working days. A Fix Sprint takes 10 working days from the agreed start date.
Where are you based?
In Dhaka, Bangladesh. We work remotely with stores across the EU, during EU working hours, by email and video call.
How do we pay?
By bank transfer against an invoice: 50% before we start, 50% when you receive the fixed theme.
What if a problem comes back?
For 30 days after delivery, we fix any issue within the agreed scope for free, unless it was caused by a later theme or app change.
Is this legal advice?
No. We are developers, not lawyers. We fix accessibility problems and document what we did. For questions about your legal obligations, ask a legal adviser.
